We've had a pretty rubbish few weeks at home. We successfully got to the age of 18 with our oldest son - sadly he assumed that turning 18 meant he was mature enough and financially able to look after himself without any rules. We don't run a prison, but equally, we don't run a B&B either.
Anyway, a year now he has been driving on L Plates, and he drives amazingly well, in fact I feel quite safe sitting next to him.
The theory side, sadly is another matter.... We now have an 18 year old and a 17 year old, both are now keen to drive, but after a frustrating year of 3 theory fails with 18 year old we find ourselves attempting to do something we have never 1) had to do ourselves and 2) attempting to support revision of what is deemed 'boring' (not just by them may I add! Of course we all need to be aware of the Highway Code but with two old fart drivers in the house we struggle with this, as well as the fact we have two kids who can't focus long enough to 'revise')
So we have downloaded the AA's disk, and we are beginning the revision.... I got 41/50 on my first test for the Theory section.... I have failed too! Will this help? Who knows... I just know that this is one thing we aren't going to give up on with them, they have wanted to drive for so long.
The Theory tests are booked for them both on 1st September.... I hope to the Lord of Prosecco that they both pass - otherwise there will be one very deflated 18 year old. 18 year old has been booked in for the 'needs additional support' which gives head phones and spoken instructions and questions.
I will let you know how it goes!
