Negotiations

I am no way on a par with MI5 or the CIA, but seriously think I could give them a run for their money when it comes to dealing with teens.

Tris and I are often (not always) opposites in the way we deal with things, not to the point where we disagree alllll the time, but we do have some differences of opinions. Thinking about writing this I am struck by the fact that we compliment each other in a lot of ways, and our skills we use every day for each child is useful (hopeful if Tris reads this he will agree and take some solice in my reflection!).

Tris deals with the younger ones and I deal with the teens. (I could embellish, but no point in boring you to tears)

Case in point this morning - 8am, I was to be treated to a lay in on holiday while Tris was going to drive 17yo and his friend who is on holiday with us to a theme park. Sadly 17yo has had his phone in his hand for most of the last two days as him and girlfriend are terrible about being apart. It's a healthy relationship otherwise and one that we support - but seriously - you are on holiday... Do things! Needless to say my lay in never happened!

Tris knew if he went in hell for leather it would mean no theme park and to be honest, we need the break as much as he does - us to be adults and him to be a teen! So up I got, with no caffeine ingested may I add, to negotiate.

To summarise what I thought would be an argument turned into something beatiful... In my eyes anyway!

Showered
Dressed
Happy
Smiling
Cash in pocket
In car by 9am as planned by Tris

And the piece de resistance.... The phone is left at home!

That in my eyes is negotiation at its finest.

I thank you!
